NEWPORT NEWS

THE FARMERS’ MARKET

After many years of wishing .we are pleased to hear that Newport Pagnell is to have its own Farmers’ Market, On Friday 19th April you will find a dozen or more stalls set up around the Health Centre on Market Hill. They will be offering a range of home produced fresh and prepared products to the discerning residents of the town.

This initiative from the Partnership follows discussion of a feasibility report by the Business Association and the positive support of the Town Council to hold the official licence which is issued by the MK Council. The rules for holding a Farmers’ Market are well established nationally with some powers for local negotiation. The various hurdles have now been jumped and the prospect of there being a monthly market is nearly a fact.

Unlike previous attempts to set up a market in the town the Farmers’ Market will only sell home grown and prepared food of high quality. It will be value for money, not bargain basement, style. Individual growers have been invited to have a stand on the Market and it is our support which will determine whether their sales justify the investment.

The Market will be held on the third Friday of each month in the morning and early afternoon.
